The 2017 Gordon College Fighting Scots Men’s Soccer Day Camp is a 5-day camp from July 17 to July 21, 2017. It invites all 8 to 13 years old male soccer players. It is an opportunity to experience the Gordon College men’s soccer training environment. The camp will focus on advancing the skills of its campers by providing personalized coaching. Thus, the organizers limit the available slots. It targets to improve the technical abilities and tactical awareness of the campers. In essence, the experience will be competitive but enjoyable. The event facilitators are the men’s soccer coaching staff. The camp will take place inside the Gordon College- Wenham campus.
Gordon College is a Christian college in Wenham, Massachusetts. It got its name from its founder, Rev. Dr. Adoniram Judson (A. J.) Gordon. Christian service is part of the college’s mission. It currently accommodates around 1,700 undergraduate students. It is 171st in the National Liberal Arts Colleges ranking. Also, it is 332nd in the Forbes Top Colleges ranking. Gordon College has 20 intercollegiate sports teams. And, they are known as the Fighting Scots. They are playing in the Commonwealth Coast Conference of NCAA Division 3. The head coach of the Fighting Scots men’s soccer team is Matt Horth. He is a former professional soccer player. He is a 2-time NASL Player of the Week as well as a Player of the Month awardee. These awards are during his stint with the Atlanta Silverbacks of NASL. Coach Horth is a National Soccer Coaches Association of America coaching license holder. And, a United States Soccer Federation coaching license holder. Then, the team’s assistant coaches are Andrew Vandervoort and Todd McMillan. Coach Vandervoort is a former Fighting Scots stand-out. He is a 2-time Commonwealth Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year awardee. And, an NSCAA First-Team All-American member. Coach Todd McMillan is also a former collegiate soccer standout. He is a 2-time Tennessee-Virginia Athletic Conference First Team member.
